     Linda Garofallou is the Qigong Sensory Treatment Therapist and Trainer at the Center for Autism and Early Childhood Mental Health at Montclair State University, and formerly at Children’s Hospital of NJ at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center where she has worked extensively with families and children with a wide range of serious medical diagnoses.   

     Linda has developed a variety of community pediatric parent-touch and sensory treatment programs for at-risk children & families, including:  

  • Qigong Sensory Treatment for Children with Autism, Downs Syndrome and other neurodevelopmental delays at the Center for Autism and Early Childhood Mental Health at Montclair State University, Montclair, NJ.
  • Infant Massage & Crawler/Toddler Massage Developmental Program at the Mother & Child Residential Drug Rehabilitation program at Newark Renaissance House, Newark, NJ.  
  • Pediatric Massage for Children's Special Health Care Needs at the Center for Autism and Early Childhood Mental Health at Montclair State University, Montclair, NJ.
  • The Nurturing Touch Program at YCS Institute for Infant & Preschool Mental Health--a program that offered infant and toddler massage to mothers & children in the YCS Institute Clinic, Foster Home Program, Therapeutic Nursery,  Baby Steps Developmental Program and the Nurse Family Practice Program, E. Orange, NJ.
  • Infant Massage Developmental Program at Family Connections, a community-based counseling and family service agency in E. Orange, NJ. 

     Linda teaches a graduate seminar on The Tactile & Sensory Foundations of Child Developmenta program for hospital and mental health professionals.   She holds a Masters degree in biology/human physiology, a post graduate certification in Infant & Preschool Mental Health, the Level III Clinical Endorsement in Infant Mental Health®, and is faculty trained in Brazelton’s Touchpoints.   She is a licensed massage therapist, Certified Qigong Sensory Treatment Therapist & Trainer and Certified Instructor of Infant Massage.   She is licensed and certified in the Shanker Method® for Self-Regulation through The MEHRIT Centre, Ontario, Canada.  Linda is the recipient of the 2003 Humanism in Healthcare Award.
